View on a Wall
This charming bucolic landscape bathes in a southern yellow light. A lady on horseback, accompanied by a boy on a donkey, stops near a shepherd. The herd looks at two fishers and quietly smokes his pipe. Although the theme appears to be the 17th century, it is possible that the work was not painted until the 19th century. The treatment of the sky does not look like a 17th century painted sky. The clouds in the painting form strongly demarcated stripes, and the little nuanced colouring of the sky seems not close to 17th-century landscape art.
