Rare Ceremonial Hippocamp Bracelet mounted on a custom metal stand, Oceania.

This ceremonial bracelet, formed from a delicately preserved hippocamp (seahorse), exemplifies the creative use of marine fauna in ritual adornment. The animal has been carefully shaped into a closed circular form, creating an object that functions simultaneously as a piece of body adornment, a protective amulet, and a symbolically charged ceremonial item. In many coastal societies, seahorse-derived amulets were believed to ward off illness, misfortune, and malevolent spirits, particularly those associated with the sea. The bracelet’s natural coloration, combined with its sculptural curvature, highlights both the craftsmanship and the symbolic potency of the piece.
