This unusual mask reflects the distinctive sculptural features of the north-eastern Hemba. It was collected in Karambare in the 1930s by the Roman physician Dr. R. Sulsenti, who was practicing in the region at the time and later acquired by Alberto Galaverni, who formed his collection with the support of his friend Franco Monti. It was published in 1978.

Ce masque inhabituel reflète les caractéristiques sculpturales distinctives des Hemba du nord-est. Il a été collecté à Karambare dans les années 1930 par le médecin romain Dr R. Sulsenti, alors en exercice dans la région, puis acquis par Alberto Galaverni, qui a constitué sa collection avec le soutien de son ami Franco Monti. Il a été publié en 1978.

Dit uitzonderlijke masker weerspiegelt de kenmerkende sculpturale eigenschappen van de noordoostelijke Hemba. Het werd in de jaren 1930 in Karambare verzameld door de Romeinse arts dr. R. Sulsenti, die toen in de regio werkzaam was, en later verworven door Alberto Galaverni, die zijn collectie samenstelde met de steun van zijn vriend Franco Monti. Het werd gepubliceerd in 1978.

Diese ungewöhnliche Maske spiegelt die charakteristischen skulpturalen Merkmale der nordöstlichen Hemba wider. Sie wurde in den 1930er-Jahren in Karambare von dem römischen Arzt Dr. R. Sulsenti gesammelt, der zu dieser Zeit in der Region praktizierte, und später von Alberto Galaverni erworben, der seine Sammlung mit Unterstützung seines Freundes Franco Monti aufbaute. Sie wurde 1978 publiziert.
