Worn by chiefs and other notables on ceremonial occasions, these beaded heads were highly symbolic power accoutrements and probably represent the heads of enemies taken in battle. Old and authentic examples are rare and this fine and expressive specimen with early trade beads shows evident age and patina overall.

Portés par les chefs et autres personnalités lors d'occasions cérémonielles, ces têtes perlées étaient des accessoires de pouvoir hautement symboliques et représentaient probablement les têtes d'ennemis prises au combat. Les exemples anciens et authentiques sont rares, et ce spécimen fin et expressif avec des perles de commerce anciennes montre une évidence de son âge et de sa patine globale.
