Kekum Njang mask representing the King (Fon) , in the form of a gorilla surmounted by sculpted quadrapeds.Kom people ,Cameroon.These masks, made of wood and decorated with beads, are entrusted to the King or the heads of families with the highest rank and are characterised by their powerful expressionistic appearance and their symbolic force. The inventivness of their plastic design, count amongst the Kom's most important royal emblems. The superb beaded decoration alternates round and tubular European trade beads.


Masque Kekum Njang représentant le Roi (Fon), sous la forme d’un gorille surmonté de quadrupèdes sculptés. Peuple Kom, Cameroun.Ces masques, en bois et décorés de perles, sont confiés au Roi ou aux chefs de familles de plus haut rang. Ils se distinguent par leur expression puissante, leur apparence expressionniste et leur force symbolique.

L’inventivité de leur conception plastique en fait l’un des emblèmes royaux les plus importants des Kom. La superbe décoration perlée alterne entre des perles européennes rondes et tubulaires de commerce.
