A selection of ten Praying Mantises under a Napoleon III glass dome. The composition is an organized chaos in zig-zag form. The praying mantis is named for its prominent front legs, which are bent and held together at an angle that suggest the position of a prayer. The female of this insect is notorious for eating her mate just after – or even during – mating. All the insects have a yellow body with a set of greenish, transparent wings, two on each side. The head has a green -yellow color and the front legs are thicker and bigger than the hind ones.
