19th C, Yombe People, DRC. Chief Staff,"Mwaala".

A Wooden Yombe Mwaala Chief Staff, with three globular elements. The Finial is a finely carved female figure kneeling, the hands resting on the knees and raised scarification marks above the prominent breasts. The head was carved powerfully with filed teeth, and a typical ceremonial had—Brown-black brilliant patina.
