Under the bell jar, skeletons of two varieties of the species' Draco melanopogon' can be seen. One comes from Sumatra, the other from Kalimantan (an area of the island of Borneo).
As the inscription on the label says, they have been put together for a comparative study of their anatomy. The Draco melanopogon, commonly known as 'Black-barbed flying dragon' or 'Black-bearded gliding lizard', was first described by the Belgian-British zoologist and botanist George Albert Boulenger (Brussels, 1858-Saint-Malo, 1937) in the 1880s. Boulenger worked at the Natural History Museum of London (part of the British Museum), where he catalogued amphibians of the collection.
