The Western Ospray (Pandion haliaetus) is popularly known by the name of sea or river hawk, is found on all continents except Antartica. Because the bird of prey feeds on fish, it lives near a body of water. The upper plumage of this species is brown, the breast has white feathers with occasional brown stripes. The bird's head is white, but it appears to be wearing a black mask that continues on the sides of its eyes. Its black bill has a blue cere. The claws are white and the talons black. The specimen presented on a tree stump looks proudly ahead.
