Extraordinary Chimera Composistion under Glass Globe
This Chimera stands out because of the light tones and less bold colors used. The figure has two legs and arms, resembling the legs and wings of a birdlike creature. The body has a washed out orange color and is composed of shells and parts of sea animals. The head isa fragile white shell and it carries a small orange feather-like coral. Lastly the chimera carries one purple butterfly wing on its back. The composition is in excellent condition. The Chimaera, composed with parts and bones of beetles, butterflies and various other insects looks like a figure from the Greek mythology. According to Greek mythology a Chimera, also known as Chimaera, was a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature of Lycia in Asia Minor, composed of the parts of several animals. The term “chimera” has come to describe any mythical or fictional animal with parts taken from various animals or to describe anything composed of very disparate parts or perceived as wildly imaginative, implausible or dazzling.
